Welcome aboard

Boat Policy

A few guidelines to make your North Carolina dive adventure safe, comfortable, and fun.

Welcome aboard

Our job is to get everyone safely to the dive site and back, with a great day of diving in between. A little consideration for the other passengers makes the trip better for everybody.

Tanks and dive gear

Boat space is limited, so bring the gear you need rather than the contents of your entire gear closet.

  • Standard charters: two single tanks or one set of doubles per diver.
  • Additional bottle: one pony or stage bottle, up to 40 cubic feet.
  • Special trips: technical and three-tank charters may allow more tanks when the charter notes specifically say so.

Large hard-sided tubs and bulky gear cases are great for storage at home, but not on a crowded dive boat. Please pack your necessary equipment in a bag or container that can be stowed easily.

We'd rather look like a dive boat than a container ship!

Coolers and personal items

Each boat has two large coolers with ice and drinking water. You're welcome to store personal items in them. If you bring your own cooler, please choose one small enough to fit under your seat.

Firearms and illegal drugs are not allowed aboard.

What to expect diving in North Carolina

“Cayman diving is like going to the zoo; North Carolina diving is like going on safari.”

Our wrecks and offshore ledges offer an experience different from a typical tropical resort dive. Standard dives are limited by your no-decompression limit or available breathing gas, whichever comes first.

Planning an extended bottom time? Discuss it with the shop when booking and get the captain's approval. Any extended dive must fit the crew's plan, including finishing the second dive when the rest of the divers finish.

The captain and crew make the final call on safe diving operations.

Certification verification

Bring proof of SCUBA certification — a physical card or e-card.

No certification verification means no diving, even if you're Jacques Cousteau. You may ride along, but you are still responsible for the charter cost.

Arrival and reservations

Please arrive at Bridge Tender Marina at least 30 minutes before departure so the crew can get everyone and their equipment aboard.

For reservation changes, cancellations, no-shows, and other financial terms, see our Charter Policy.
